Who could possibly think Richard Pryor didn't influence HIP HOP
I was born January of 1979, when I walked into a video store a year ago in Brooklyn and the poor little kid behind the counter didn't know who Richard Pryor was my heart fell to the floor. It's kind of like knowing who Michael Jackson is but forgetting about Prince. Richard was always my favorite, [/i]even as a child[/i]. When I think of comedy Richard Pryor is the first to come to my head. I'm a respected human beatboxer, and mothafucka I can say quite certainly that everything about Hip Hop is Richard Pryor. Think of Hip Hop - The attitude, the comedy, the rawness, the rags to riches, the quirky, the cool, the street smarts, the tradegies, the triumphs, the say what the fuck you feel, the genius with words, the social insight. To say that Richard Pryor didn't influence the hip hop generation is to not know who the hip-hop generation is . It's not little white kids singing Brittany Speerz and it's definitely not exclusive to what's promoted on the television in the mass media. When I think of Hip Hop's many influences and there are many, the legend Richard Pryor paved the way for the very essence of Hip Hop. Muthafucka

Right On!!!Richard kept it real for a whole lot longer time and really I cannot think of anybody who spoke with as much honesty in Hip-Hop.Alot of the times when I hear Richard referenced in hip-hop it is based on how much shit he talked.It's easy to talk shit in hip-hop but I think alot of rappers are scared to speak on the flaws of their lives the way Richard did. I think people like Pac and GhostFace have gotten real close to that though.But I can't really think of too many artist in any genre that covered as much territory as Richard did.
But as a fellow member of the hip-hop culture he has definitely influenced me to try to be an artist that can entertain you and then come back with some profound shit.Richard set alot of examples on how "entertainers" can be "artistic" at the same time.
