Richard_Pryor,

I pulled this thread back up for two reasons. First b/c it contains my very first post which ironically YOU replied to! I'll never forget the feeling I got when you did...my stomach sunk kinda like the way it does right after you take that first big dip on a rollar coaster and my heart started to pound. All I kept thinking was WOW Richard MotherFucking Pryor liked something I said enough to respond to it and it was my very FIRST post!!! ):)

What made it even more special was that I wrote about William Melvin Hicks who would've been 43 today if he were here with us. I'm not sure why God took him so early but that's definetly one of the questions I plan on asking Him if I'm lucky enough to make it to Heaven ):) The second reason I pulled this thread back up was to let Bill know he's still LOVED, thought of and admired very, very much! ):)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILL!!!
We love you, We have NOT forgotten you and we know wherever Love, Laughter & Truth abide, you ARE there in Spirit! ):)

SINCERELY!

cbreez0101,

This is a really late entry to the thread, but I have to chime in with my appreciation for Bill Hicks.
He's my favorite honky.

Also, I caught Lewis Black's standup on HBO the other night, he killed me.

Sorry guys I'm not gonna let this thread get pushed back down to the bottom. Oh no, Bill Hicks was too great a comedian and too human of a man to be forgotten on his birthday.

Once again, Happy Birthday Bill!!! ):)

astonamous,

Oh my Trudy well in a very real way, Bill has spoken about what's going on in the world these days. When I received the footage of him from the BHFW to use for the show, it included a Letterman appearance he did during the 1st Iraqi War..and Trudy everything he said 10 years ago is just as TRUE today as it was then!

I told Jenny that as I watched it, a CHILL went down my spine and a TEAR rolled down my cheek. They say great comedians are really Prophets with microphones. Bill certainly proved that to be true!

I, like you, just wish SO much that he could be here with us so he could see just how prevelant and revolutionary his writing has turned out to be. It's so fucking SAD b.b

SweetLuchia,

I too share your admiration for Bill Hicks. He was quite a comedian. Incidently, the DVD Totally BIll HICKS has just been released in the states. Has three performances by the man and the documentary, "Just A Ride" included. :)

mojones,

Ty for your reply and yes I am aware of the Totally Bill DVD that was just released here in the states but TY for mentioning it :) I see you're a Southern boy so I'm sure Bill holds an extra special place in your heart since he was one too.

Are you by chance going to be anywhere near or in NYC on Feb. 26th 2005, the 11th Anniversary of Bill's death? If so, I'd like to personally invite you to In The Spirit of Bill A Tribute to Bill Hicks. It's a charity event that raises money for the BHFW and if you mention that you found out about here on RP.com, I'll give you a FREE In The Spirit of Bill T-shirt ;)

SweetLuchia,

What are you talking about? I live in Houston, Texas -- BILL's home town!!!! He is a legend here and in Austin. This holds particularly true in comedy circles. I'm suppose to be in Manhattan around Valentines Day. I'll try to see if I can extend the stay to the 26.

mojones,

 Oh forgive me..I Bill gre up in Houston & I saw that you were from Houston but I failed to connect the two during my last post..brain freeze :D

Still if you can manage to be here on the 26th, you are more than WELCOME! I KNOW you'll have a great time there is over 23 minutes of footage of Bill and I have it projected on to a 6 foot by 8 foot screen. His presence literally FILLS THE ROOM!!!

I've been told by comics who've actually worked with him that "In The Spirit of Bill" is one of THE BEST tribute shows they've ever seen :) God knows I worked extremely HARD to make it one. I was determined not to let Mrs. Hicks, the BHFW and Bill's fans down :)

If you can make it, I really think you'll be impressed ;)

SweetLuchia,

I hope my previous post didn't come across rude or flippant. Such was not my intention. I was just trying to be cute. I'll do my best to make the show. I hear it's a good one....
