Am I right to assume that the comic from the Tenacious D board who is hitting the West Coast this February is you???

jane_haze,

Dude you're bang on correct to assume that! Thanks for asking. In early to late february I'll be rocking out, as well as comedying out, all over the west coast, singing for Brutal Knights on a tour with our friends The Western Dark,, as well as doing jokes at those shows too. We'll definitely be doing a show in Seattle--it's going to be on february 12th. I'll be doing comedy in san fran at a bar called the hemlock on february 24th as well. Here are the dates so far, in what I like to call my 'details pending tour-o-rama 2005':

February 10, San Francisco, Brutal Knights, Western Dark, Hightower, comedy of Nick "Flans" Flanagan@ Thee Parkside,
1600 17th St. @ Wisconsin
February 11th-Oakland, CA with Western Dark, BK and my jokery--858 San Pablo Ave. @ Solano (Albany)
February 12-Portland, Oregon with Western Dark, comedy, Brutal Knights & Clorox Girls--details pending
February 13-Seattle, WA with BK, WD & Flanny gags at a matinee show-- Sunset Tavern,5433 Ballard Ave
Feb 13 at night-Olympia, WA with BK, jokes, WD & Clorox Girls--details pending--
Feb 17-San Diego-details pending
Feb 18-LA--details pending
Feb 19-San francisco--with Johnny and The Dudes, The Van Stone, & Western Dark, with comedy from me at The Bottom of The Hill, 1233 17th St. @ Texas

After that, I definitely have some comedy shows pending--definitely one in LA, and the aforementioned Hemlock tavern performance.
Here's some of the band websites:
www.westerndark.com - Western Dark, who are my amazing friend Erin's band'
www.getvanstoned.com - Van Stone, an over the top musical experience'
www.cloroxgirls.com - clorox girls, a band who were paid with two pairs of jeans the first and only time they played toronto'
I'm so excited about this visit!I'm sure it will be weird, wacky, zany, a little bonkers, slightly randy, and ultimately a success on par with the finale of Rocky.
Oh yeah, I have a

NickFlanagan,

Awesome!! So where's it gonna be in seattle? I'll try to make it out there, but I don't completely know if I'll have a car or anyway I can get in and out of the city by then. I will make some sort of effort though.

This rox! I'm glad I stumbled upon that board again. I like how it is so workiing comedian oriented.

Jane Haze,

When are you gonna to bring your ass here to the East Coast? I'd love to check out Boston's comedy scene. I hear it's the best next to NYC's of course ;)

Anyway maybe we'll take a road trip up there when you finally make it out this way B-)

SweetLuchia,

I dunno, but if you're raggin on my ass to come out there, looks like there's incentive for me to get out there some time this year. ;p

And as far as checkin out the scene, you mean playing it? Because if that's the case, I better get to woodsheddin and practicing! I've been in a comedic nadir lately and have lost a lot of the ability to write. But since I've been back from SF, I've really wanted to do it again. So, it's good timing for you to start prodding me. :)

I do wanna look at the NYC scene, because it is one of the two or three best (from what I see) in the country. The only reason why it's not number one, is because the left coast style is different and not necessarily better.

Hey, and I might take you up on that offer. It's just a matter of time... ]:o)

jane_haze,

Did I read your last post correctly? Did you say that the Stand Up scene here in NYC isn't THE BEST in country?

Hmmmmm if that's the case then why is it that guys like Rock, Black, Seinfeld, Stewart, Romano, Quinn, Attel etc. etc. etc. perform HERE on a regular basis?

And why is it that before they tape an HBO special they ALWAYS do a "test run" HERE in front of a NYC audience first?

Please explain...

P.S. I don't at all doubt the SF scene is great..a lot of cool comedians came out of there. There are also some very talented comedians living in Los Angeles. I have two very good comedy friends who live out there. But as both have told me, a good portion of the "comics" you'll find at open mics are ACTORS who can't get work. They don't [/i]want to be comedians[/i] they only perform at mics to "stay fresh" in front of a live audience @.@

What a waste of precious stagetime b.b

SweetLuchia,

NYC is regarded as the best. That's why comedians flock there like muslims en route to Mecca. Every year I have comic friends who move there and advise me to do the same. Of course, that doesnt' make it gospel. But it does seem to be the consensus that NY is the comedy capitol of the US. Of course, Cali has to take second place. The rule is NY comedians are funnier, but L.A. comics are better looking.

Jane,

I haven't been given the club info yet, but as soon as I get it(and it will be soon) I'll put it up in here...and Billyboy, the picture on the first page of my website is from the time I did standup at an amateur burlesque show and had to do some topless comedy. Thanks for the congrats Luchia--I'm not sure if I've said it already, but I'm glad to see you all up in the internet again. And you're right, New York is the shit. The sheer amount and variety of comedy easily makes it the best place for hilarity I've been to--although the west coast has some really sweet places to joke as well.
