Hi. I like Friday standup, but you're right about it not getting the ratings.
I think it's hard to do comedy on TV. I think people would go out to clubs and see comics if they only aired the short clips. Like MTV used to do on Standup Standup. Or like Comic Remix is doing.
Who needs to go see the show when they think they's seen everything on TV.
The whole environment of a club atmosphere is important also. Dark room and bright stage. You can't get that with a TV show. Comics and corporations would make more money.
The merchandising, cd's, t-shirts, dvd's. I don't do comedy only to get paid. But it would be nice to be able to do this full time.
I love cc, but they show too much. There are too many posers out there trying to use comedy to get into show business. They don't care about entertaining people. They just want to expend the least amount of energy possible to get that big gig on TV.
I could give a shit about being on TV. I want to make people laugh and I do eventually want to make a living at it.
Would I turn down a TV gig. Probably not. But that is just gravy. I would just want to be someone people want to come and see. And be the person that makes them laugh till their sides hurt.
I don't laugh that much. And I hardly ever laugh like that. So if I can make someone else do it. So be it. You got to give it to get it.
