It's Rich. Bitch.

Post by MisterTee »

Today I stumbled into the middle of a conversation between two guys and overheard one guy trying to repeat a Richard Pryor story.

"...he was shooting 'superman' and he went to the white house and met the president. And the president says 'Mr. Pryor, I've never heard of you' And so Rich says 'Mr. Carter, I think I'm in the wrong house.'

And it got worse...

Just fucked the whole thing up. I wanted to yell "Wrong President! And where's the part where
Richard says Reagans face looked like a penis? Why you even try to repeat, it MAAAN?"

I mean I haven't see "Here & Now" in maybe 14 years and I don't know the story by heart,(which reminds me, I gotta pick that video up along w/Sunset Strip and the "Live In Concert" DVD, which I do know by heart) but damn, this guy butchered it... I guess I gotta give the dude some props for knowing who a real 'King' of Comedy is though...right? :(

You wanna hear dastardly? Me and my friends had all just accidentally inhaled alot of this weird "herbal smoke", and my buddy's all like 'Dudes, let's listen to this!' and he holds up a copy of the Richard Pryor Greatest Hits LP, and all of us are really stoked. So he puts it on, and something just doesn't seem right; his cadence and voice sound deeper and his topics are clean. We're listening, trying to get into it, but something's wrong. Then I notice that the Pryor album is still in its sleeve, and that we're listening to Bill Cosby is Very Funny Man...Right!
Needless to say, we all wanted to hit my friend. Since we're Canadian, we were passive aggressive about it and merely internalised our anger. Ultimately, I do have to give my friend props, since he's the person who played me Live on Sunset for the first time.
