dumbass,
The book and the movie have bery different endings. In the hollywood cinema version he gets the girl and "The End" comes up on the screen as the epic music comes up and they make passionate love on the beach with the waves coming up around them and crashing into the rocks. Very dramtic and beautiful. In the novel he kills her in a drunken rage and then turns the gun on himself.

I almost forgot. In the novel his name was Walter. It was changed due to the Hollywoodization of the script.

I'm sure some scene can be worked in. Like Dave is walking down the street, a car horn sounds, and there is a set of brests hanging out a car window passing by...
