astonamous,
I believe this is why our fearless leader wants to drill for oil in Alaska. There's enough there to sustain us for at least a month...
Isn't it funny how "conservatives" seem to be the last to want to conserve energy?

astonamous,
There is some light at the end of the tunnel though, despite a lack of substantial government subsidy, alternative energy sources are becoming increasingly less expensive (namely wind energy). Also, new agriculture techniques in food are using less water and space. The key is that governenment support for research and development, along with public awareness can create a market for these alternatives to flourish. I hesitate to assume we are in a gloom and doom period, however we head in that direction if conservation efforts are not seriously examined immediately.

Anditsdeeptoo, your going to find out what "wind energy"
is all about when you start driving behind a horse buggy.
Especially when that horse has been eating oats and carrots all day!!Phew!!!

Cars will eventually be driven on natural gas. That will be when I drive again, because I am lactose intolerant...

My balls are perpetually filled to the brim, no matter how much ball-snot I toss, so maybe we can figure out a way to run the old jalopy on that stuff? Instead of pulling over to gas-up in the old fashioned way you just twist-one-off in the tank and you're on your merry way again, with a very fulfilled grin from one ear to the other I might add... You know the old full-service gas stations of the 50's with "Mr. Sandman" playing over the horn and they could have a group of employees run out when you pull up and set off the dinger to check the tire pressure, wash the windows and do a circle jerk into the gas tank.

JTF, Detriot{home of the Tigers}, has let our nation down ,they knew the well could eventually run dry,or get highjacked.Ever since 1973 ,since the first oil embargo ,what have they done to maximize gasoline efficiency?
Cars still are able to go over 100 mph.And other than emergency vehicles ,there is absolutly no need for the industry to make a domestic car that can abtain those kinds of speeds. But instead they marketed safety,we got new crush proof bumpers, catalytic converters to cut emissions ,and airbags. What we really needed were cars to double their Miles Per Gallon from 30 years ago and ,not to be able to exceed 75MPH ,which would off set the safety issues .But they didn't dare try to market a product that would keep us from being so dependent on imported oil. So they are just as
bad as the Saudi's in my book.

astonamous, Well I've always been in favor of growing my own!
And from reading the link the possitives outweight the negatives by a large margine. If we could only get a bigtime supporter like NASCAR or some other industry that could prove it to the buying public, things would start to get changed. But I bet the people in power spend more money to try to squash information like this ,than they spend trying to get involved with it.I'm going to pass it along to my friends though.
