Politics, religion, racism, sex, the weather... there's always lots to think about so there's always lots to talk about. Progressive ideas are encouraged but all opinions are welcome.
I was skipping throug the channels on tv and came across a gene wilder biography and i heared the word pryor mentioned. so i watched it ro a while until there was a picture f gene wilder with his voice in the background and he was saying how much he dislikes richard and how "demanding" he was to work with...now i'm sorry i think gene is cool but he aint shit to richard pryor. richard pryor has influenced the world of comedy and broke through all of the boudries, and even more so outside of the world of comedy. is this even true what gene wiler has been saying?!
Billie_Jean, I think whatever his personal feelings are, he should have nothing to say bad about Mr P based on the sole fact he wouldn't made the money he did without him. It would be like Jerome from the Time bitching about Morris Day..
Heartbreaking if you grew up loving movies like "stir Crazy" and "Silver Streak".It diminishes some of the attachment one has to those films...
...and some bullshit for him to say something like that when it is obvious that Richard is not in a the best position to defend himself. In the hood it's a "bitch move", everywhere else it shows that Wilder has "no class"!!!
I went to Zimbabwe. I know how white people feel in America now; relaxed! Cause when I heard the police car I knew they weren't coming after me!
bingolong,
I respected Gene Wilder for years, of course from the films with Richard Pryor. But also for the way he stood by Gilda Radner (one of my idols growing up). But hearing some of the things he has said in the last year has bothered me greatly.
I wonder what he would have thought about anyone that said something negative about Gilda, when she was battling cancer?
Willy Wonka needs to stick some chocolate in his mouth and shut up!!!!
Yes Rich stole the show in "Silver Streak"... added more lines and scenes for the man, maybe that bothers him. "Stir Crazy" could not have been done without Rich. As an actor, Gene Wilder, should respect the chemistry they had and that Richard mastered his craft like no other.
Now that Johnnie's gone, I guess I should start being nice to the cops.
bingolong,
And now with Johnny Depp's remake of Willie Wonka due out soon , (I know bingolong already has his tickets) ,Wilder's legacy will suffer some ,I hope he has a insecurity attack that sends Him up a fuckin crane..
"Insecurity" you think.......well let the attacks "begin".....
Wilder: "Wonka Remake Is All About Money"
Movie funnyman Gene Wilder has attacked Tim Burton's choice of Johnny Depp to play Willy Wonka in upcoming film Charlie And The Chocolate Factory as a money-making ploy. Wilder, who played Wonka in the original 1971 film Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, is suspicious of movie moguls' motives for remaking the Roald Dahl fantasy, and sees it as "pointless". He says, "It's all about money. It's just some people sitting around thinking 'How can we make some more money?' Why else would you remake Willy Wonka? I don't see the point of going back and doing it all over again. I like Johnny Depp, and I appreciate that he has said on record that my shoes will be hard to fill. But I don't know how it will all turn out." Despite Wilder's reservations, Burton insists his film will be closer to the original Dahl novel, than Wilder's musical version.

bingolong,
Making Money .... , I thought people made films to enrich their fellow man... ...
And this is coming from a guy who's humping a book, that should be read to the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay , then Amnesty International's claims of abuse would be substantiated...
bingolong,
Gene Wilder will be on "The Insider" tonight. I checked their web site to see if any info was up about the interview (because in the commercial it's obvious he's putting personal info about Gilda out there). Sure as shit stinks, there was some info, take a look:
From "The Insider":
"She was unique," Gene says with a smile, adding, "but she was a pest, a brat, narcisstic and insecure."
And it was that insecurity that most likely led to her eating disorder. While living together, she admitted to being a bulimic, but insisted that he not watch over her. "She said, don't monitor me. All I ask is that you don't monitor me."
As a result, Gene would painfully mind his own business, despite having to hear her throw up after dinner and seeing her gradually lose her teeth as a result of the nightly ritual. "When you throw up continuously, the acid starts to wear your teeth down."
Fortunately, Gilda was eventually able to overcome her bulimia, thanks to therapy. Soon after, though, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer which, according to Gene, led to her many erratic mood swings.
Such candidness about his marriage to Gilda stems from the fact that "it wouldn't make any sense if I didn't," says Gene. "I don't do everything well. The one thing I think I do well is be honest. And if I couldn't be honest about her, then why write about it?" END
He's promoting a book about there relationship, but it sounds like he's just exposing her demons. Somebody from "The Insider" must check out this site. Because they were on it.
Lost the last bit of respect I had for him. One of my best memories as a kid, was staying up late with my mother and laughing while looking at Saturday Night Live. I thought John Belushi and Gilda were the funniest on the show. Anyway... such is life, I guess.
Now that Johnnie's gone, I guess I should start being nice to the cops.
