Chrome and Hot Leather

Richard loved going to the movies...
So do we. Who doesn't like music?

Chrome and Hot Leather

Post by JTF »

Tonight I watched http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066915/ - Chrome and Hot Leather.'

It's a biker film. It's a bad film. The kind of movie I like!

What interested me in this film was one of the supporting characters, played by Marvin Gaye... yes, THE Marvin Gaye in a rare acting role (He only did two) It was apparent [/i]why[/i] he only acted in two roles. He was not a very good actor. Every scene with him in it he seems nervous. He smiles at inappropriate times, is always moving, touching his face... something. Shame.

What I find very curious is that this film was released in October 1971. Right after [/i]Mercy, Mercy Me[/i] fell off the charts, and when [/i]Inner City Blues[/i] was released. Marvin only acted. There is not one hint that he was even a singer. And the music on the film is below awful... and that's not considering the talent that was just sitting there trying to avoid looking at the camera.

Now, Marvin's daughter Nona is a good actress. She's a decent singer, but she can act. I'll even give her the benefit of the doubt that with the right material and production she could sing well too. Oh, and of all the things I have seen her in, there is one thing that I really want her in... my arms! (She is fine!) The only problem would be in that [/i]Let's Get It On[/i] would probably not do too well in terms of a romantic evening...
