Talk Eddie into coming back to standup[/B]

Post by durbecqs »

Eddie Murphy needs to go back to stand up. Don't you miss him. The kids movies or great because he has children. Richard has done movies for kids. But he never forgot his roots and talks shit everyday. Hey richard talk Eddie into coming back to stand up. I love when he impersenates you. Eddie is a distant second from you of all time. P.S thanks for talking shit to all mother fuckers on this site. Lets see how bush fucks this thing up in the gulf coast. shawn

durbecqs,

You do realize when Eddie was impersonating TMIC, he never gave him a single dime? That's stealing. When Michael Bolton sung Ron Isley's songs without paying royalties, people threw a fit and justifiably so. The same rule should apply here. Jokes are just like songs...rhetorical compositions...

It's different if you're a new comic just starting out. Many of us hide behind the greats until we get our sea legs. But at the time, Eddie was the biggest comedian on the scene. If he wanted to use RP's stuff, he should've paid him for the privilege. Welcome to the board....glad you're here...

mojones,

Hmmmmm are you sure about that? Did he actually use TMIC's material or did he just do a very good impersonation of him?

You can't really charge someone for impersonating you can you? That means that Eddie would owe Mr T some change and Richard would have to pay John Wayne for doing his walk!

If you look at the end of Raw, you'll see in the credits that Eddie had to seek permission to use the snippets of the Bob Marley songs and Motown songs that he used in his act. Did TMIC have to do the same to Stevie Wonder when he quoted from "The Book of Wonder" and recited the lyrics from Stevie's "Living in the City" on the "Is it Something I said " album?

It's a bit of a grey area isn't it? If you wanna say that Richard is a better comedian than Eddie then you'll get no arguments here. But to suggest that by impersonating Richard, Eddie has somehow infringed copyright law seems to me a bit far fetched (I admit, I may be wrong), but it leaves a whole heap of other comedians (including Richard) to be charged with the same crime.

Going back to the initial statement, I for one would be interested to see Eddie back on the stand-up circuit, just to hear what he has to say. I think that Eddie has a quick wit and his past stuff is ok. He never achieved the lofty heights of stand-up legend status of TMIC, but at the same time he never put in the same amount of work into it. Then again they are two very different people.

I can't really fault Eddie for being Eddie, but I love Richard for being the best.;)

Peace gee

Mister Gee,

He did both! He impersonated Pryor while using his jokes. Double whammy! That whole bathroom skit was Pryor's stuff I believe. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Now don't misunderstand me. I like Eddie. But it's like when your brother does something blatantly wrong. You can condemn his actions and love him at the same time.
