did anyone besides me catch this wonderfull story about the roots of protest music? it was wonderfull and i hjope i am not the only who saw it.....included some great songs by ODETTA (i got the privalidge of meeting her a few years back and getting to talk to her for about 20 minutes) PETE SEEGER, BOB DYLAN, JOAN BAEZ,BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and many more it went from the 1920's protest songs for unions to modern day rap and hip hop...it was very informative.

ed broeth,
I watched the show, also. Being a "leftover hippie" as my family calls me, the show really brought back some memories. I had to switch back and forth between stations because the local cable station had a show about John Lennon. I saw many riots right in front of my own home as a kid. The City High School was down the road and the students in the 60s and early 70s had lots of protest.
I saw police club kids right over their heads and backs. I still cry when I think about it. I think that's part of what formed my strong feelings about our right to protest and stand up for our beliefs without being persecuted for doing so. We are quickly losing our rights in this country and that needs to stop. now. I didn't mean to be so graphic, but that's what flashes back in my head at times. The show was great, though.
