writing sucks

I'm trying to fill out my set and get to a strong half hour..and man..writing is hardddd..what happens most times is I'll write a new bit, throw it in the middle of my act..and if I don't get a good response I throw it out instantly..this writing shit is hard as all git out. It's so much more fun and easy to get up there and free flow..but when that doesn't work..man it doesn't work bad..uhm..not sure why I'm writing this

Murphdogg,

Know what you mean. I write to hours a day and most of it i feel is just crap. Thats one of the things thzt impress me most with Richard. Where does all that material come from? Its unbelivable how he could come upp with everything. It feels like he just sat down and wrote a hour in one day. I recommend Judy Carter _ Stand up comedy the book_ and Comedy bible. Thoose to books are great for working with writing

Read the paper every mornning you won't write shit unless you get freash news.

Try not writting for a few days relax go over past jokes see what made the jokes work and see what the jokes lacked.

You are so right. Actually watching the news will do wonders for your writing skills too. Sometimes the reporter will even provide you with the set-up. Of course, I'm the world's worse writer -- so maybe I shouldn't be giving you advice.

Matter of fact I sat down and forced myself to write some notes this mornning its like house cleaning its a pain in the ass its not easy but yer happy as hell once yer done.

smjmcomic, yeahd I did some new stuff..going to try it while mc'ing a show tonight...maybe not the best idea being that your going up cold and half the time the crowd pays no attention to the mc..

I tend to make alot of noise where there not paying attention it drives me crazy at times I feel I might be to quick tempered to be doing stand up.

what ever happended with yer buddy and the cops? What was that all about?

Dawg writing has become some GreasyA*S B#llSH!T, because I was always trying to write something funny,now it's fuck funny I write what's real and what's true(objectively,and I'm incorperated something I seen on one of our great mentor's DVDs(don't know if he getting paid for it,but he should, it's some classic sh!T,it's called Richard Pryor:Live and Smoking) it was filmed at the New York Improv in 1971( don't rent buy this shit if you don't already have it) But what I think he was doing at the time was just writing the topic of what he wanted to talk about, and then just got into it and cut loose, now this does'nt work for everyones, But I think it has been key in the process of me finding out what does and does'nt work for me on stage.And by the way thamks a Muthafunkin' ho lot for the advice.

I hyave all the Pryor specials on DvD I had all his albums at one point but I'm too nice for my own ood and I tend to lend my shit out and never get it back
