if this isn't a wakeup call to boycott Exxon

Politics, religion, racism, sex, the weather... there's always lots to think about so there's always lots to talk about. Progressive ideas are encouraged but all opinions are welcome.

if this isn't a wakeup call to boycott Exxon

Post by tamra »

I don't know what to tell yall. and it should be pretty obvious which political party Exxon supports. if not, validate it w/your own eyes on http://www.buyblue.org - www.buyblue.org'

it's just not right to have $10 BILLION DOLLAR PROFIT ]:o( while the majority of people are losing money going to and from work and getting taxed to death for it too. not to mention, Exxon contributed to one the worst environmental disasters EVER.

astonamous,
yes, I can imagine what would happen. we'd finally begin the weaning ourselves off the oil nipple.

and the other thing is if more people followed the advice of Oprah's show today, which spoke specifically towards Global Warming and how we could IMMEDIATELY reduce our fuel and energy usage, we may just shut a few of the Reds down.

it was also encouraged for everyone to start writing their congressman to force mass production of hybrid only vehicles. or other fuel efficient vehicles. there are also kits out there to convert cars to biodiesel and other fuel efficient options.

there's a woman in Connecticut whose neighbors laughed at her. her car was converted to run on vegetable oil, which she would go around and collect from fast food restaurants after it was tossed out. the woman now has the last laugh.

I'll bet if organized groups nationwide stood outside a gas station and passed out information on ways to reduce fuel usage, they'd be arrested. esp. if outside of an Exxon station.

astonamous,

Thanks for the heads up on citgo/7/11. I saw a show awhile back discussing ethanol and have looked some stuff up but most only promote, always suspicious I'm curious what the catch is. The bright side seems to be a renewable resource for environmental concerns and getting us off the oil leeches tit.

tamra,

Why are will still supporting *any* oil company?! I know, using cars is a necessity for most people, but there's ways around that!

Biking! I cycle 7.41 miles to work over hills and in the rain. There's nothing that will give OPEC (and GM--also inherently evil) the big "Screw you!" like human powered transportation.

Public Transit. Don't use your gas. Let your political/moral consciousness relax as the city pays the oil barons.

Bio diesel. Perhaps the wisest choice if you must have a car. As long as you have a diesel engine car (from a beater to an expensive ass mercedes) you can do this. Talk to the proper peeps and get you car changed. Bio-diesel is cheaper and doesn't use precious fossil fuels.

As for oil heated housing--I recommend burning republicans. They're made of a solid mass that burns slow and long for the most efficiency money can buy. Unfortunately, a large percentage emit high levels of methane, but that risk is easily forgotten when you realize what a great contribution to society you're doing.

jane_haze,
you are preaching to the choir. I'm right behind ya doing the choir dance.

and LMFAO @ burning reputrid-cans.

but I use my good 'ol feet. if it's w/in walking distance even for groceries. walk. even if it's about a mile and a half. getting exercise in the process as well.

and you know what I'm seeing, other people walking to work, and even meet some folks along the way (so I get to meet my crazy neighbors ) and maybe if more people walked they'll learn how to reconnect w/oh gee... I don't know... people.

if it's a few miles away, roller blade or break out the ol school four wheelers. as well as bike, too, which I did for years instead of driving when there wasn't even gas price issues.

and now for longer distances, I may just jack an Amish family if the horse and buggy is TIGHT! I wonder if I can get rims and sound system for a buggy? but seriously, people act like there were *always* cars and no other option.

To everyone that has posted.

I say, the alternate traveling ideas are good, but we need to start a petition to get GAS STIPENDS each month from the governmemnt, like a welfare check.

& certain criteria must apply

Like -
Your job is over 5 miles from your crib
You have more than ONE car
You have MORE than one mouth to feed
Your gas bill per month represents 1/3 of your average annual income on a monthly basis
Your ass is broke as hell trying to buy gas and you are on the verge of robbing some damn body. ]:o)
You are about to back you butt up against your car and fart in your tank, just so you can put some GAS in it
You know, things like that...

What ya'll think?

tis2flyyy,
 lawd I hope people don't start farting in tanks. the explosion daily would be too much for firefighters.

but I just think it's time to force alternative energy options now. our current enery consumption and options are just destroying the environment daily.

we have the technology, we have the resources, but are too busy fucking around in Iraq for Dick Cheney's pockets.

tamra,

Ain't that the truth, girl.

Preach on, preach on.

I wish there was a way that we could just get this shit under control and quit depending on people to do it for us.
