COLUMBUS, Ohio - A loyal and very bright pet came to the rescue for a disabled man on Thursday night.

Gary Rosheisen was making his way from his wheelchair to his bed when he fell, NBC 4 reported.

He was in pain and could not get up on his own, so his cat, Tommy, ran to the phone and dialed 911.

"He had come in and punched the two right buttons on the phone, by miracle, and called help for me," Rosheisen said. "He sensed I needed help."

Rosheisen said he had been training Tommy with the phone a little but never expected he would be able to do what he did. Police responded to the call and said they were amazed at what the pet did.

JTF,

I had to laugh when he said he trained the cat but wasn't sure if he got it. cats look at you like you're crazy for repeating stuff. as if they're saying "I heard you the first time, ok. I'm not stupid. I just decide to do what I want when I want ok. and you better hope I'm in a good mood or we're running low on food if you're in trouble then just maybe I'll dial the number ok."

Come on... Cats look at you like you're stupid the [/i]first[/i] time you try and show them something! I suspect that the only reason this cat called 911 was that it was dinner time and he was never shown how to operate the can opener...

I've always known cats were smart enough to use the phone. I just didn't think they could be bothered! The only thing my cat would ever do was knock the phone off the hook if it rang too much and annoyed him.

What an amazing story. He probably pushed the speed dial button, but how did he get the phone off the hook? Either way, I know my cat would do whatever he could to get me help, he thinks a human and acts like one.

(Sure. If Osama Bin-Laden came in your home with a group of terrorists your cat would go for help, or take them all on individually, fighting to the death for you... I think if Osama brought a can of Fancy Feast he would have a new cat that would instantly forget who you were, lady!)

I saw that! I was reallllly surprised! I know dogs will call 911 but cats? I'm Mum to 2 cats and I'm pretty certain that they'd yowl but I can't see a 911 call ever happening! Lol! Now, one of my boys DOES know how to turn on the t.v. and he wants the remote with him, he tucks it under his chest...but he's not into phones! Lol! YES, a MALE! Lol!

I just saw this. I love that cat. My cat would have been like, "girl please, you better get yo' asss up and feed me!!!"

I am sending his azz to school to learn how to dail 911. Or get a life alert buzzer to where around my neck......
