Who here is in the UK?

Post by JTF »

Alright. I need to know who here is in the UK.

I just bought a pile of PAL tapes on ebay.

They are all Looney Tunes tapes.

Do you know anyone who can dub them to DVD?

JTF,

I'm here in the UK. Unfortunately, our DVD system is different to yours as well. U.S. DVD's don't play on our players (I think that it's something to do with the pixels on the TV's over here, but I'm not sure). What you need to do is find someone with a multiplay video or DVD recorder to dub them off.

See, if you hadn't have thrown all that Tea into the Boston Harbour... you'd be laughing now!

peace gee

Mister Gee,

I have an Apex DVD player that can play either NTSC or PAL.

The number of lines per frame is different. Of course, the bloody Brits get almost twice the resolution than we get. I believe it has something to do with Americans being cheap bastards who will kill as many people as we can if there is the possibility of squeezing another penny of profitability out of them. While you limey bastards actually give a damn about quality. That, and mind control of the ignorant... MUST WOTE BUSH. MUST VOTE BUSH. MUST VOTE BUSH.

JTF,

Come to think about it, I've always wondered whenever I'm stateside, why American TV looked different (even when they show UK programs).

But surely, now that it's all gone digital something has to change?

I have a dream that one day little boys and girls from London to Louisiana, from China to Canada will all be able to watch the same DVD's on the same TV's and say to themselves "This is crap... let's listen to some Richard Pryor!"

Peace gee
:)

Mister Gee,

I have been to the mountaintop... And there they have the clearest, most beautiful television reception!

Ok, that was wrong...

JTF,
I'm about to write "The Emancipation from bad TV reception"... that's wrong.
Now that Johnnie's gone, I guess I should start being nice to the cops.

robfharris,

I believe I remember the "Mountaintop" originated in an ad for Zenith...

JTF,
I believe Martin Luther King wrote the last episode of Newhart.
