When do you say I'm no longer an open Mic comic?

Post by Robbie »

Hello, I'm a new member to this site, as well as a working comedian. So please forgive me if I sound bitter. If comedy is in your blood, then go and showcase so you can work. Open mic is like being dry fucked in the ass by the Margaret Cho. Go out there and perform. You can call the clubs yourself and ask for a showcase, then find and agent or a manager and tell them the night your showcasing to come and show up to see you. Then if they like you ask them to represent you for Personal appearances. There is 2 parts to showbusiness....The Show and The Business. Remember that Good luck. And this is your Tip of the day use it well.

Robbie,
good tip of the day, particularly like the part about open mic night is like being dry-fucked in the ass by Margaret Cho! Hmm-don't think that would be good! Showcase-now that's good!

Jennifer,
Thank you for the complement. It's just that on a forum such as this I would hope some comic and give these new jacks some good advice. Instead of telling them to spin there wheels. Nowadays everyone wants to be a comic. But don't know what to do to be come one. If I can I'll give advice. Just us it wisely...? The game is to Sold....not Told.

Richard_Pryor,
I'm usually at the Improv on Melrose, and at the Laugh Factory. I stopped my comedy store habit back in '99 after Mitzi fired me for the last time in 13yrs. I'm in the Documentary section of the Comedy Store's 20th reunion show.

But I can be seen regularly at the Improv on Melrose.
Thanks again.

Robbie,
Mitzi is in really bad shape-Pauly and Peter are running the store now or not running it-she is in her big house like Gloria Swanson in SUnset Blvd., she has become very bitter and mean!! Life wounds all heals!
We will catch you somewhere!! jenny
