Footloose...yes, that one!

Post by tamra »

ok I must have been abducted by aliens when this one came out some 20 years ago. because I never saw it until I caught a scene a short while ago.

but ummm...from what I understand this movie was a major hit??? 8-o

I just saw a scene where they're at a drive-in restaurant and a song comes on the radio that had a Debarge kind of beat to it w/Howard Hewitt singing. and low and behold, the KIDS start dancing. which was forbidden.

not fucking, not drugs, not cussing, not gang banging, but dancing. and not dancing w/black people, which weren't around when the music and dancing broke out. and some of those dance moves looked...umm...a little light in the ass. (I think I saw Al Reynolds waving happily during one scene. 8-o)

and as much as I love these artists, how much trouble can you get into dancing to Kenny Loggins or a Howard Hewitt dance song???

[/i]OMG...a tractor/plow race, YES, THAT'S WHAT I SAID, w/the song I Need A Hero playing in the background. and the plow didn't fall on nobody followed by a rescue. man, how did this movie not get my money at the theaters back in the day? 8-o[/i]

wait...hold the phone, the additional cast talent included Diane Weist, Sarah Jessica Parker, Christopher Penn 8-o 8-o

tamra,
Yes looking back on it the plot does seem very far fetched.... but they do a good job of making real...by the end you will believe!! It could be deemed a movie you would watch over and over along the lines of Shawshank. I would say this movie made Kevin Bacon a "name"!! B-)

bingolong,

the mystery is how did I not see it before today given the list of stars in it. it must have been a movie packed year at the theaters.

but interesting seeing Kevin Bacon working out the dance moves in ball-clutching-jeans and thinking of him in Murder In The First and other serious movies such as Sleepers.

....yeah I didn't want to call you out on your 22 years of missing "Footloose"....like I said it really is a classic!!!

At first I though you were going to say they are going to remake it when I first saw the topic!!

By the way that was actually a Shalmar song with Howard Hewett...I believe post Jody Whatley!

bingolong,

Corny is my middle name. I remember when the movie came out I was like 3 years old and that Kenny Loggins song was my jam. I was doing the Carlton Dance all day.

Anditsdeeptoo,

ok you gotta give me a chance to catch my breath from your last Eddie Murphy funny. and now that remake shit was hilarious.
hey I love the live zydeco version of Footloose from Live From The Redwoods. and guess what's on radio now: Celebrate Me Home.

Kenny Loggins is jamming. you're corny for other reasons  j/k

and look at Bingo knowing the music trivia from Footloose. 22 years ago?? man, that must have been my trip around the world....w/acid year j/k  just don't remember it when it was released.

we'll, the good news is I know I'm not the only one who didn't see it. *whew*
