Nope I saw it at the movie theater....I remember a kid I know was in the seats in front of us left after the one scene with the kids in the showers....the ass shots were a little racy by 1984 standards....
Footloose...yes, that one!

I went to Zimbabwe. I know how white people feel in America now; relaxed! Cause when I heard the police car I knew they weren't coming after me!

astonamous,
THAT was Utah? wow. I would have guessed Montana or California. Utah also explains the movie plot.
bingolong,
aaah now I remember. that was 1984 my first year of college, where there was a bar on campus.
then again it was New Orleans so a bar on campus was redundant.
and Alex Haley was the hot topic that year because we wanted him as our annual guest speaker at Loyola U. and G Gordon Liddy (a Watergate thief) was chosen instead w/a response from the student union "to let the black student union hire Alex Haley instead"!! and not one priest did a dayum thing after the school literally split!
that's when I got serious about everything after that bullshit. *whew, I seriously thought I was abducted by aliens because I knew nuffin about that flick*

Re: Footloose...yes, that one!
tamra,
Footloose was cringeworthy! didn't it have that song "Let's hear it for the boy?" Kevin Bacon thought that he was a regular James Dean!
If you wanna talk about a good dancing movie it's gotta be "Fame", the bit where the piano player's dad rigs his cab with huge Fog-Horn speakers, parks it outside of the school building and starts to blast his son's music. The dad then does the most embarrassing dance ever
, if my dad ever visited my school and started dancing like that.....suicide would indeed be painless!!
Peace gee

bingolong,
It was awful... do you remember the guy poppin' & lockin' at the end? For a town where music had been banned for 20 years that guy had obviously been hanging out with the Rock Steady Crew on his family's annual vacations to the Bronx!
Peace gee

Mister Gee,
yeah the only time I wanna see a man dancing to Let's Hear It For The Boy is if he's strippin! and given the one dance I saw Kevin Bacon do (in the ball clutching jeans), he should have been strippin!
but Fame was off the chain. I can still watch it. and it led to discovering The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
and poor Leroy (Gene Anthony Ray). it took a lot of courage to walk thru the hood carrying tights and ballet shoes! I felt his pain. ;p
