THANKS for your compliment-I've never been short on guts
If you go to the [/i]Richard's Diary[/i] thread and read pages 3 and 4, I talk all about Stand Up and how I got started. Ironically what you fear most about it-being alone on stage-is one of the things that attracted me.
I think it's awesome that you're a musician by the way.
I get frustrated way too easily to learn how to play anything We comedians have NO fuckin attention spans-it's a damn shame
Nah, you ain't alone dumbass. We got a lil bit of everyone on here. I a visual artist myself, with a great appreciation for the art of stand up. Definitely the toughest of performing arts if ya ask me.
Just thought of a ?....Do you comics find that all stand ups are real socialbe, outgoing, extroverts(which of course would seem to be the case)....or do ya find that there are a lot of comics that are introverted? What's the word. Just curious

I can tell you one strong similarity among us is that we all had fucked up childhoods. Not that a Brady Bunch up bringing exists for anyone but a comedian's upbringing is usually pretty fucked up. It's what pushes us to the stage to begin with-we just wanna be heard.
SweetLuchia,
well shit, I need to go ahead and get my ass on stage then...when my balls get big enough. naw, but i think a lot of artists in general have that similarity....the good ones anyway. gotta have some type of fire burning to push to that level.

Jennifer--I peed my pants when I saw the link! Thank you; you guys are frggin awesome. I need new pants. And also new MP3s.
And Dumbass, because RP is who he is in comedy, there ain't no way comics will miss out on the chance to communicate with him and just read his thoughts. I bet there's a lot of comics on here who don't even post.
Which I guess leads to Cire's question--comedians can be shy types too. I would say that the common thread linking all comics isn't a fucked up childhood(mine was normal except for the part where some kids tried to steal my bike and accused me of smelling bad), but actually sociopathic tendencies. I'm only half joking.
The truth is that although there are many comics who are reserved and quiet offstage, there are many 'always-on' types, and even more almost totally normal folk who do comedy. We're all just a bunch of sociopathic snowflakes, basically.
