Where do you think he ranks amongst the all time greats? I'm having a hard time trying to place him.

Anditsdeeptoo, man I don't know either, but I'm glad he made it as big as he did, he had to bust his ass for over 20 years before he finally got his big break.

I was trying to see where he was listed on comedy central's top 100 comics off all time, but I saw some of the other names and was like what the hell are they doing on it? And they left legends like Abott and Costello off of it, the one thing they got right was putting Richard Pryor was number one.

Murphdogg,

well it was painful watching him slur his words during the last season of The Bernie Mac Show, and in some of the daily repeats. the show was on hold for a while because of his health. so not surprising he's retiring.

but won't be surprised to see Mac pop up in movies and tributes to others in the future. and funny, he was still nominated for NAACP image award yet show has only been in syndication for last few years. he's just that good.

I was disappointed to hear that he was giving up stand up .Thought he had gone all Hollywood on us! I've seen him a few times and he was always good. If it is for health reason than he has to do what he has to do to stay healthy. I hope he does some HBO specials and not give up stand up completly.

Yeah, it was obvious he was ill during the end of the show. They moved it around so much I never could remember when it was on. I wish FOX would have at least let them do a final show. One where they wrap up the storyline, like maybe have Vanessa go off to College or have their mother return. I hate when I follow a show and they don't get a proper send off.
