Linda Ronstadt booed in Vegas after praising Michael Moore
What does everyone think about this? (Below is the a copy-and-pasted article.) And to think that I always thought that the flag-waving right wing LOVED freedom! Oh, well...So much for free speech.
Vegas Casino Boots Singer Linda Ronstadt
Jul 19, 3:51 PM (ET)
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Singer Linda Ronstadt not only got booed, she got the boot after lauding filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" during a performance at the Aladdin hotel-casino.
Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She also encouraged everybody to see the documentary about President Bush.
Ronstadt's comments drew loud boos and some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air.
"It was a very ugly scene," Aladdin President Bill Timmins told The Associated Press. "She praised him and all of a sudden all bedlam broke loose."
Timmins, who is British and was watching the show, decided Ronstadt had to go - for good. Timmins said he didn't allow Ronstadt back in her luxury suite and she was escorted off the property.
Ronstadt's antics "spoiled a wonderful evening for our guests and we had to do something about it," Timmins said.
Timmins said it was the first time he sent a performer packing.
"As long as I'm here, she's not going to play," Timmins said.
Ronstadt had been booked to play the Aladdin for only one show.
Calls to Ronstadt's manager were not immediately returned.
In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal before the show, Ronstadt said "I keep hoping that if I'm annoying enough to them, they won't hire me back."
Looks like she got her wish.

astonamous,
This is all a misunderstanding. All they were doing was asking her to sing Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Bayuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
I know what you're gonna say about me... you're thinkin' "You're no good..."

Jennifer,
Ironically, I believe that it was in the original Aladdin that Richard had his now-famous epiphany/nervous breakdown onstage in 1967, muttering in the midst of his middlebrow routine, "What the fuck am I doing here?," in front of a disbelieving audience (which included, reportedly, Dean Martin). Richard then walked off the stage, left Vegas behind forever, and began to evolve into the brilliant, cutting edge, revolutionary comic that he is remembered as and loved for today.

Re: Linda Ronstadt booed in Vegas after praising Michael Moore
I may be pissing on a hornets nest, but I agree with those who booed her. I'd boo too if I paid a bunch of money to hear her sing and ended up getting a political diatribe. I'll watch Fox News or CNN or MSNBC if I'm in the mood to hear political shit. Some people want to get away from all of that, if only for a couple of hours. Does she really think that anyone gives a flying fuck about what she thinks of Michael Moore??? On my list of people whose political opinions I respect, Linda Ronstadt is WAY down on the list, grouped with the Dixie Chicks, Richard Gere, Toby Keith, and Charlie Daniels. Hey Linda, there's a time and a place for everything. If you want to waste my time with your political beliefs, YOU pay ME.
In the words of The Man "Sing that song you bitch!!!"

Re: Linda Ronstadt booed in Vegas after praising Michael Moore
ClarkWashington,
But I don't believe it was a diatribe-i think it was merely one short sentence; you don't stike me as the sort who would , throw drinks, yell, scream and then walk out??? Disagree at the place and timing of her sentiments but a reaction like that???I think they are all nuts!!The audience especially-do you know much a drink is in those casinos??
Truth is it is giving publicity to Moore again and I am glad for that!!!!

Jennifer,
I do think the reactions, especially by the casino head, were way overboard. I would've booed, but that's about it. Throwing drinks and shit ain't cool. And not letting her back in her room and banning her from performing was just ridiculous.
Just for the record, I despise Michael Moore. I don't think he's any better than those he condemns. He bends the truth and/or lies to get his point across, just like them. I think he's done more to hurt the left than help it. I see no difference between him and Ann Coulter.
