What if
Let's not accuse anyone of anything. But let's play a game of "What if?"
What if George W. Bush is lying about his National Guard service? I'm not saying he is. This is all hypothetical. But, what if it is all a lie, and he never did serve honorably and he was off getting loaded instead of serving his country? And what if he did cover it up now has no choice but to lie about it daily. Would you still support this man?
And what if the President is also lying about Iraq. Not that he is. But what if is was all an intentional, albeit subtle, deception -- clever wordplay, dark insinuations and poetic allusions, all designed to brainwash a nation into thinking there was some connection between Saddam and Osama, even though there was never a shred of evidence. Would Bush still be your man?
What if he pushed the lie further, banking on the hypnotic effect of repeating the phrase "The world is safer" over and over and over again, even though there is not one fact or figure to support such a claim. Oh, I'm sure the world is much safer because we invaded Iraq, killed 40,000 people and opened up its borders to terrorists, but just what if the world really isn't safer and George has been lying to you all along? Would your vote still belong to Bush?
And what if the economy was a lie? What if it is not in recovery, and there's no way we can recover with a debt like he has accumulated, and salaries are continuing to decline, and he continues to encourage outsourcing, which can do nothing other than make the 'rich' richer and put even more of the 'poor' out of work, and he can't possibly pay for a fraction of what he promises, and still he talks about tax cuts. What if "We've turned the corner" is just another mantra that is in actuality an out and out lie? Would that matter?
What if everything he promised in his RNC speech regarding healthcare and education was exactly what he promised in 2000 and never made good on. I'm not saying that's the case, but what if he was lying to your face, knowing that they're just words -- words that once he's elected will be meaningless? Would you overlook his false promises because, after all, all politicians make 'em! Would you say, "No candidate can keep every promise he makes," and still cast your vote for the incumbent?
And what if he lied about all of it? I'm not saying he did, but what if he was exactly what many accuse him of being -- the greatest liar in Presidential history? Greater than Clinton. Greater than Nixon. What if he really does lie about absolutely everything, and the awful truth is that his warped vision and legitimate incompetence is, in reality, running this nation into the ground?
Would you still support him because he's our President? You need to ask yourself that question very seriously, because there are many who would answer "yes." If you are one, you must sit down, sip a cold drink, and think harder than you've ever thought about anything before about the possibility that you are brainwashed. No, don't get all huffy. Think about it. You acknowledge that even if Bush lied about everything, killed over a thousand of our troops and tens of thousands of others for nothing, actually made the world more dangerous, is digging America into an economic hole it simply cannot afford, has not fulfilled a single promise he made four years ago, and has transformed the once-greatest nation on Earth into the most hated in just one term of office, you'd still want to give him another? Why? Would a clear-thinking man or woman do such a thing -- support a man who is lying to you and endangering your life. That's just what they do in cults.
And if you are sane enough to have answered "no" to the question of supporting Bush if he was the King of Liars, then you need to ask yourself one more question: Have you any specific reasons to believe Mr. Bush other than his word? With all the lies he is accused of, have you lifted a finger to verify your trust in your candidate? Maybe the Lord deserves such blind faith, but never the leader of a nation. That is nothing less than foolhardy.
The liar will never tell you that he's lying. And the fool will never think to ask. Please stop listening to words. Get some facts. Know that your decision in November will be the right one. I'm sure you'll find that Bush is all you believe him to be and then you can really be proud of your President. But what if just a little research on your part reveals George W. Bush to be just as poor a President as his critics claim. Then you will have to choose between your pride and your patriotism. And I can only hope the choice will not be difficult on.
Pride goeth before a fall. Where'd I hear that before?

astonamous,
Who knows? But I'll just bet he's real sorry he didn't log on so he could go back and edit that post because he wrote it really fast and posted it without proofreading it and now he sees it's full of typos.
I'll just bet.

Well, I can only assume that if he could have edited it, it would have ended up reading more like this:
http://www.worldworld.com - http://www.worldworld.com'
Or maybe not.
