Where Were You When.........

Post by billyb0y »

This is just an attempt to some chatter.
The reason I give four choices is because I am a lot older than most of you and I am trying to spread it out over many years.
If I forgot someone or something that was big and important to you....feel free to add to the conversation.
You don't have to answer all but you can if you want.

Okay....so where were you when........
John F Kennedy was shot or when,
Martin Luthor King was killed or when,
John Lennon died or when,
Princess Dianna died.

billyb0y,

1. Not born.
2. See above.
3. Don't remember.
4. See #3.

How about:
5. Marvin Gaye shot.
6. Terrorist attacks on 9/11/01

billyb0y,

1. Two seperate sex cells.
2. Just a dream
3. A crying gleam in my old mans eye.
4. Cleaning the kitchen floor at 2 in the morning at our house in Alexandria VA. That brought up the weirdest feeling that I have ever had from the news of someone's death. It was extremely unsettling. It was kinda like a strange force just went through me. It happened twice, when I heard she got in the wreck and then the news of her death.

Funny thing is...yeah, I knew who she was and thought she was cool, but it wasn't like I cared!

billyb0y,
1. Too young to remember (as I was one month shy of my 2nd birthday); but my mom tells me that I was in the house with her while she was watching the soap "As The World Turns," when Walter Cronkite interrupted and made the shocking announcement

2. I was 6 by that time, and I'll never forget my dad making a point of sitting me down and telling me what had just happened. (That night was the first time that I had ever heard of MLK, believe it or not.)

3. I was 18, I was in my second year at UCLA, and I had just returned home that night from studying for finals, when it was announced on TV. Being a huge Beatles/Lennon fan, I was devastated. That night is emblazoned on my brain just like the JFK assassination for those old enough to remember.

4. I was laying in bed, extremely ill from recently diagnosed testicular cancer (since cured, thankfully), when the news broke on TV. Pretty shocking.

What about the memories of those who recall Robert F. Kennedy's assassination (which occurred only two months after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s murder)? As for me, I vaguely recall it, but Bobby Kennedy would become a hero of mine when I got older.

astonamous,
I think I was in 4th or 5th grade in school when a classmate came into the room and said that Kennedy was shot in Texas.
My teacher Mrs. Peters ran to the principal's office and a couple of minutes later she came back to the room.
She told os all to go home!

billyb0y,

The day after MLK was killed, I spent the day with my friend, Shannon. The only black kid in our school. We were friends. I learned about MLK from Shannon's dad. He was very broken up by the whole thing. I didn't understand it all then, but it will be something I remember for the rest of my life.

billyb0y,

Um, Bill... You got your Presidents wrong. When you were in 4th or 5th grade it was McKinley who was shot...

4.Princess Dianna died. last year of college all i could remember was the big hoopla when she firast came on the scene and had that wedding all those years earlier.
5. Marvin Gaye shot.Saw it on the news,I was hurt b/c we had the album with "Sexual Healing" but at that the time I didn't realize how deep his legacy was.
6. Terrorist attacks on 9/11/01. I was at work and I saw the first crash on TV and then I watched the second one live.It didn't hit me until about 20 minutes later and got to Media Play to buy Jay-Z's Blueprint album and everybody was watching it on TV there it really hit then!!
