My original jokes were all pale imitations of Mr. "No Respect." He had such an impact on me, I was still imitating him years later. All the self deprecation, one liners -- old school stuff! It was embarrassing. I've since moved on. But the love I have for the man will always remain with me. I will miss Rodney and you will too...

RODNEY!!!!
Rodney Dangerfield, aka Jacob Cohen, died and I'm pissed off about it! When I was a kid, my parents wouldn't let me listen to Pryor. Being religious fanatics, the profanity was too much for their pious sensibilities. Of course, I still listened anyway. Pryor was like the playboy magazine teenage boys passed around among themselves. But Dangerfield was on the Tonight Show every Friday and my parents loved him. I did too -- never missed one of his performances. Here was a self professed loser I could identify with. It was initially through Dangerfield that I feel in love with stand up. Rodney planted the seed and Pryor nurtured and reaped the harvest.

Re: RODNEY!!!!
mojones,
I loved the dude too, even though before I saw Caddyshack or bought the No Respect album I thought he was corny--but he wasn't! His jokes were often classic hilarity, and he built an iconic character that survived for over thirty years. Notto mention how much he helped break so many comedians. Rodney was awesome!
ps I respect him.
