There are no funny republicans

Post by TurtleBeoulve »

I truly believe that this has been their great PR downfall. Besides their politics of hatred and greed, but that's besides the point. The real question is, how are we, the left, holding up humor wise? When it comes to political humor, I think we have slipped greatly in the fact that we can only attack Right wing stances (partly because it's soo easy) and can never criticise ourselves. I will take this as an example, and it may offend our host, but I think it's proper in this example.. Remeber not too long ago when every child's first response to the question of "how would you change the world?" was "I would feed and shelter the homeless" hell, even retarded beauty pageant chicks could eek it out if they couldn't think of a better response. Where the fuck did that go? On the left hand of this screen is a bunch of material on how to better the lives of animals but not one of the is about how to better the life of one human being. And that is where we have lost the polital battle in middle a-moral-ca. Which I really shouldn't care about because I am a true believer in the movement to let the south secede from the union. But how can we as the left prioritize our beliefs? I still prioritize things as political these days because I really want people to keep in mind that the president is just a barometer of the public, the real power is in the congress and we need people to keep this in mind and go vote us back in to power in congress in two years

TurtleBeoulve,

I do agree with the core of your point in that many Americans have come to not give the slightest damn about their fellow man - American or otherwise. All that matters is their own sweet ass. Americans have been accused of that attitude for years, but it has never been quite this true.

However, everyone must pick their own battles. Cruelty to animals happens to be the Pryor's current fight. Considering that animals cannot fight for themselves, I find it as noble and important as any. Never mind the fact that Richard has already spent decades fighting for human rights and dignity.

As I said, everyone must pick their own battles. And everyone cannot pick the same one. If they did, the odds of winning that fight might be greater, but victory still would not be assured. However, what would be assured is that all other battles would be lost. That is not good use of the forces of decency.

TurtleBeoulve,

There are so funny Republicans!!! Just look at this quote from Rush Limbaugh! I'm sure it will bring some gut laughter to every American far and wide:

"And now the liberals want to stop President Reagan from selling chemical warfare agents and military equipment to Saddam Hussein, and why? Because Saddam 'allegedly' gassed a few Kurds in his own country. Mark my words. All of this talk of Saddam Hussein being a 'war criminal' or 'committing crimes against humanity' is the same old thing. Liberal Hate Speech! And speaking of poison gas...I say we round up all the drug addicts and gas them."

-Nov. 3, 1988

Ahh! Brings a tear to my eye! Look at the precognition and the insite of a fascist right winged Radio talk show host.

jane_haze,

Not to mention the hypocrisy... Didn't ole Rush pay a visit to the Betty? (Ford Clinic)

Maybe "nointentionally funny" would have been a better way of wording it...

Well.... I have, Jen, sorry... and the make up sex after the big political fights is usually interesting... *S*

It never lasts long tho, I think 6 months was tops.... That one told me the reason the downstairs toliet kept stopping up was because of the Democrats...

Huh??

Yup. he was serious... blamed it on low flush toliets limiting his god given right to flush as much water down the pipes as he wanted... it didn't have anything to do with the roomate's kid flush half a roll of toliet paper at a time... it woulda gone down if it wasn't for the low flush toliets/ Dems...

I handed him his shit and told him good bye.

jane_haze,

Love that quote. Personally, though, I think Dennis Miller is the funniest republican out there. All the others are funny too, but not intentionally. Like Bill O'Reilly sexually harassing an employee. Now that's funny.
