If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain
Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain.

Jennifer,
Years ago, when I had a talk radio show I interviewed a beatnik poet named Frank T. Rios; he read this poem on the air. Years later, his words still haunt me:
“Sharing”
I have a monster running around in my head, he holds this carrot he calls perfection.
He wouldn’t let me leave the house unless I’m perfect and when I do I don’t feel worthy.
I love my monster, he lies about me, tells me I’m better than you, that I’m the hippest dude in America, that I invented black.
Takes my hand in the darkness, hums a tune when I’m scared.
I know he means to kill me, shut me down with silence, whispers - don’t, if only, maybe, you can’t.
I don’t know where to go from here; he has me by the throat.
And down the night’s vision of the poem I slide like quicksand, still thinking.
I have a monster in my head, yelling about perfection.

Jennifer,
I have some words I like very much and live by.
"You must do the things you think you cannot do"
-Eleanor Roosevelt
I really like these words. I had an ex-husband and other people in my life who made me feel stupid and that I couldn't do certain things. FUCK THEM! I can! I will!
