don't forget to check this out. I think this show will open eyes, bring about discussions and awareness.

I'm hoping that it will make more people focus on getting to know the person inside, not just pre-judging ahead of time. hopefully that isn't another 100 years away as well.

because I can look around corporate america in a major metropolitan cities and see something is seriously wrong -- it rarely reflects the area the company physically exists in.

and it's based in L.A. which to me is surprising.

but I know when affirmative action was removed in California, a large number of folks started showing up in No. Cali from No. Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and other stronghold confederate states and w/confederate flags on their cars. I remember getting some interesting stares while I just laughed, esp. thinking I was a hiring manager, you may have to go through my black ass! were they thinking the south was gonna rise in California?

what they didn't understand is for many California areas affirmative action wasn't needed. hiring and state contracts were generally fair. still a few problems, but California is far ahead of the game. I don't know about So. Cali, but in No. Cali, the majority of kids and family don't know hate and race. if they do, it's rare.

yup skills got you in pretty much anywhere in No. Cali, you could be purple don't matter. I've had candidates show up w/spiked collars and spiked hair. the interview proceeded. can you read and write code, mofo? that's all that mattered.

only ones that scared me were the hacker types we had to hire. because if they could break our shit so could anyone else. they were...umm... weird...even I didn't understand what they were saying, and kept a bullet proof vest in desk!

Harvard and Yale grads were more discriminated against and laughed at. amazing how book smarts didn't equate to common sense. oh wait, our Pres is a Yale grad.

Yep saw this on Oprah about a month ago and thought it was a segmant for her show and not an actual show!! looking forward to it!!!

I know there's been a lot of talk about it and people are anxious. this may set ratings precedence over regular network programming. closest thing ever done was in 1960 somethin from the movie Black Like Me.

I think the daughter's (Rose) heart is so pure that she can transcend anything and get along anywhere.

but I have to agree, for the adults their past will mold their thinking in a way.

for the kids, this show may not be necessary because the son of the black family described the way things are w/kids: if you're cool w/him, he's cool w/you.

BUTTTTT.... the focus group reminded you of how much work is still left. the guy who said he didn't want to shake the hands of a black person

as well as the white guy in the bar who was proud of his neighborhood being exclusive. that problem is obvious just by visiting other areas of the country. and the realtor is involved in that game too.

funny you asked about what each thought when they first saw each other. the white husband and the black wife were the only ones who looked almost the same, but I'm guessing they didn't recognize the person.

esp. the daughter Rose and the son. they looked completely different.

what would have been interesting is place them somewhere alone and see if they recognized each other. that would have been hilarious

well you saw a lot in the previews for the first episode, like the makeovers and getting adjusted. so the next episodes should be getting into the crust of it.

but bingo is right, Bruno is a trip!!!!

his jackass mind is made up because that "if you're nice to people they're nice to you" shit don't work in the hood!" that thinking alone is whacked because he assumes everyone will GIVE him respect back if he's respectful to them. yeah right!

yeah he needs his OWN show to put his ass into certain situations so his eyes can be opened.

and he couldn't wait to use the word nigga. and what they need to do is go through the apartment/home finding test - Bruno in all white neighborhoods. and I only wish this was filmed in some place like So. Carolina -- the PRIMARY place for the republican presidential candidates. the fact that they're concerned about getting these people's votes is scary. the klan operates OPENLY and LITERALLY there.

but it will be interesting to see Bruno interacting w/other blacks in the future episodes. because so far he's a jackass!
