Sidney Poitier

Richard loved going to the movies...
So do we. Who doesn't like music?

Sidney Poitier

Post by billyb0y »

Everyone says they cried when "Old Yeller" died...well I didn't.
I cried and I still cry every time I see Homer Smith driving away into the darkness,in his station wagon, after building a "shapple" for the German Nuns.
"Lillies Of The Fields" is by far my favorite film.
It is a study of life as lives should be lived.
Best film of all time?
So far it is.
For me anyway :)
But that's my opinion :)

astonamous,
Please! How could y'all compare "Lillies in the Field" to "Uptown Saturday Night"!? Now that's a classic! Little Seymour!? Big Percy!? Geechee Dan Buford!? And who could forget Mr. P's classic performance of Sharp Eye Washington!?
Academy Awards all around to everyone in that film!

Naw, I'm just kidding. ;p "Lillies" is a film I had to get to a certain age to appreciate. I didn't like it in my twenties, but I dig it now. But "Uptown Saturday Night"
will always be the most fun Sidney Poiter film for me. I love those characters to no end! It just seems everyone was having a ball making it.

dougdigitalpro,
I feel you on that!!!And without those movies I don't think he would have made "Stir Crazy".

I've only seen the end of "Lillies" and I liked what I saw.

bingolong,
Right! Their actor-director relationship started on that film. I wish I could do an updated remake on that film. I think I could do something with it with some of today's talent. Give them a REAL comedy to work with instead of (Gag!) "Soul Plane".
